Assaults in SLCC
The beginning is a video clip of Gary Burkel extracted from the Delegate Assembly Meeting on May 28, 2026. Mr. Burkel speaks out on inappropriate aggressive member behavior. The second part is a video of Mr. Burkel physically assaulting a member on April 9, 2026 after the election concluded. Troon Transition Plan Review
Review of Troon Transition Plan for Sun Lakes Country Club (SLCC) Exhibit A September 2, 2026 Overall assessment The plan is appears to be little more than a corporate marketing piece to demonstrate that Troon understands the importance of a transition plan. It appears to be a standard document which has had global changes made to make it appear custom to SLCC (pictures, Sun Lakes references, and dates provided to make the start date seems realistic. It is not a sufficiently

Misleading Recall Flyer 8-11-26
Alert An unidentified person or group has taken it upon themselves to place flyers in Sun Lakes member's mail boxes earlier today. This is an admirable effort to keep members informed. But, unfortunately, it contains misinformation. The recall cost is estimated, by the contracted electoral company, to be between $8,000 and $10,000. NOT $15,000 to $20,000, as stated in the flyer. One can only assume that this was an attempt to distract or undermine the recall of Gary Burkel

SLCC-SLA Response to Questions 7/28-8/09/26
Question: First Service has to be fired. They are responsible for ruining Sun Lakes. First service either fired some our best restaurant employees or would not hire them back after the pandemic. That then hired some of the most incompetent restaurant employees I have ever seen. First Service doesn't care what Sun Lakers want or need, as demonstrated by ignoring phone calls or requests for service. Response: We can understand how you might hold the view you have, but it comple

Facebook Fallacy of Troon HOA Business
Correction to Facebook Post Listing Troon HOA’s Before looking at some of the individual properties listed in a recent Facebook post it is important to more closely examine the precise nature of services Troon actually provides. Upon a deep look the matrix shown of six Troon companies is seriously flawed. Troon is first and foremost a golf and country club management company. They became engaged in the management of HOAs only since the 2022 acquisition of ICON, a Florida base

November 10, 2025 “Town Hall” Management Company Selection During the Coffee with the Board meeting on July 9, 2025 Mr. Burkel stated that the previous Board already conducted a “Town Hall” on the subject of selecting a new management company for our HOA when the issue of accountability and transparency was asked by members in attendance. Comments on Coffee with the Board
July 9, 2026 Noteworthy Observations: When Mr. Burkel was asked about a previous attorney advising the Board that Troon’s lack of CA HOA management company experience should rule them out, Mr. Burkel claimed he relies on an attorney for legal, but feels he has more business savvy than an attorney. This begs the question of how we ended up with such a poorly constructed Morrison/CCL agreement. Did no one bother to do a serious financial, operational, and business risk assessme

SLCC-SLA Response to Questions
SLCC-SLA Response to Questions 7/9- 7/12 Question: Why can't we change food and beverage services instead of HOA? We can't continue to lose money at the rate we are going, and the food service is poor at best? Response: The best answer we can provide is that the board has painted themselves into a corner by the way they selected Morrison/CCL and negotiated a very poor agreement. One has to Question why they decided to not include Food & Beverage in they agreement with Troon.
